Totem: African Elegance

Over the last few years, I have been collecting a large archive of photos whose subjects are wearing their culture's traditional fashion.
There's no better photo journalist to kick off this weekly featurethan Alice Mertens. Her book 'African Elegance' captures the rituals and traditional in Southern Africa during the fifties.
